1) Try another location
Open the location list and pick a different one. From China and nearby countries, Tokyo and Singapore are usually the fastest. From Iran, the Middle East and Europe, try Amsterdam, Lyon or Roubaix.
If Automatic keeps choosing a location that stalls, pick one yourself and leave it there.
2) Mobile data vs Wi-Fi
- On a phone, turn Wi-Fi off and try on mobile data, then the other way round. Some mobile operators throttle UDP; some Wi-Fi networks block everything except web traffic. The app handles both, but comparing the two tells you where the problem is.
- On a hotel, campus or office network, make sure you have accepted the network's sign-in page first. Until then, nothing can connect.
3) Let the TCP fallback happen
The app tries a fast UDP path first. If the network throttles or blocks UDP, it switches to TCP on port 443 on its own, which is the same path your browser uses for any secure website. This switch can take a few seconds. Give the first connection attempt up to a minute before you cancel it.
There is no setting to change. The fallback is automatic.
4) Restart the app and the device
5) When nothing connects
During a full internet shutdown nothing connects, including Stealth VPN. During tightened filtering, some locations may be slow while others still work, so keep trying different ones. If our website is blocked, you can still email [email protected] and we will reply with the installer or the next step.
6) Open a ticket with the details
Open a ticket and include:
- your city and country;
- your ISP or mobile operator, and whether you were on Wi-Fi or mobile data;
- your device and operating system;
- the locations you tried and what the app showed.
